"From the initial meeting with Dr. Ramsey until now four weeks into the process, I could not ask for a more positive experience. The pre-op workshop with Ann Vennell lowered my anxiety. She has continued to be there for me and answered my questions in the hospital and by phone since I came home. I will recommend Dr. Ramsey and his staff especially Tasha to anyone who has to have knee replacement. Thank you all for making a hard situation an easier one!" -- Florence V.
"On June the 19th, 2012, I was in an auto accident. At the time I felt some back pain, but thought it was just a strain. I started feeling some discomfort in my right buttocks, and down the right leg. I also could not pick up my right foot and place in down. I then called Coastal Orthopedics and they gave me an appointment with Dr. Mills. He examined me, took X-rays, and after he reviewed them, he set me up with an MRI. The MRI shown some distressed areas of the 3/4 and 4/5 lumbar area. He recommended a treatment called ILIF. I gave it some serious thought and then approved the operation. I am only one month out of the operation and by back never felt better. No more pain in the right buttocks or leg. My foot now has strength and I can walk properly. I am very pleased with the results and thank the staff and Dr. Mills for his help." -- Dennis T.
"This was my second total hip replacement within the year 2012. My left hip was done in May and the right hip was done in November. My recovery from both surgeries has been remarkable with almost no pain and a very quick return to normal activity. My total hospital experience starting with all the pre admission tests, classes, etc. were very helpful and did much to alleviate any anxiety I might have had. The staff is caring, warm, and professional. I can and already have recommended Dr. Ramsey and Conway Medical Center to several others who are now patients." -- John F.
"Dr. Ramsey performed a right hip replacement. Dr. Ramsey did a wonderful job and it could not have gone any better. Great staff, great hospital stay." -- Charles O.
"My patient "relationship" began with Coastal Orthopedics in 2009 after experiencing sudden and excruciating pain in my left knee. I am a runner and the pain stopped my marathon-training schedule. I called Dr. Haskin's nurse, Jennifer, and she worked me into his busy schedule. He and Dr. Elliott treated me for degenerative arthritis and gave me advice on caring for my knee and being able to continue running. My next visit with Dr. Haskin was in 2011 to care for tendonitis in my right elbow. He treated it with a cortisone injection. During my treatment for "tennis elbow,” Dr. Haskin discovered carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand. He repaired the nerve for me and I can thankfully say that within two weeks of surgery that I could "feel" the fingers in my hand again. I have experienced no problems with my hand since my surgery. Thank you, Dr. Haskin!
My most recent visit (Sept 2012) was the result of training for a half-marathon and developing Achilles insertional tendonitis in my left foot. While on a long run with my training partner, the pain started and became so intense that I could not run and could barely walk. Dr. Haskin was out of town the following Friday and Jennifer arranged for me to see Dr. Tupis. He provided a thorough explanation of the diagnosis, put me in a "boot,” and prescribed four weeks of physical therapy. My physical therapist requested six total weeks of therapy and he agreed. I am in my third week of physical therapy and am seeing positive results. While I won't run the half-marathon that I was training to run October 21, my foot will heal. And, I will be running again............soon! The staff at Coastal Orthopedics is professional and courteous. They make me feel at home and they genuinely care about me. Thank you, Coastal Orthopedics!" -- Wanda L.
"I had my second meeting with Dr. Mills and he explained my MRI in great detail which made sense to me and was greatly appreciated. He suggested a few ways we could address the problem. He gave me cortisone shots in the lower spine and prescribed a medication. I am looking forward to seeing him again and see if this is the right path. I have had surgery two times before and hope an alternative course will help. He, like Dr. Ramsey, is a pleasure to go to." -- Richard E.
"The complete experience from the first meeting with my doctor to the physical therapy staff people was great. The staff at Coastal Orthopedics all paid attention to my knee and me. Everything was so well coordinated and went so smoothly. The only issue is one that is pretty much unavoidable, that of waiting for the swelling to go down and being able to do deep knee bends.
I only took painkillers for two days; I did physical therapy exercises at home on the floor. I was using a cane for one week from getting home; I was hitting golf balls two weeks, and riding a bike in three weeks. Thank you for the help." -- Robert S.
"I have arthritis in both knees with the right one being worse. I go until I feel that I can't tolerate the pain any longer and then I go for my shots. I have had only two maybe three shots in the left knee, but have had more in the right knee. My last visit was shots in both knees and the shots have helped tremendously. I am able to go up and down the bus steps much better. I am a special needs bus driver and going up and down the steps several times a day can take a toll on the knees. Thanks for the help and expertise of those working at Coastal Orthopedics! :)" -- Patricia S.
"I have had two knee replacements by Dr. Ramsey and I must admit it was a good experience. Before surgery I could hardly walk without pain. I could not play golf or dance which were my two favorite past times. In the hospital and at home I had minimal pain. Nothing like the stories of many patients who had knee replacements. I was very impressed by Dr. Ramsey's credentials, especially his background in pain management.
The hospital experience was exceptional as well. As a retired nurse and hospital administrator, I would highly recommend Dr. Ramsey and Conway Medical Center to anyone. Today I can walk, dance, and play golf without any discomfort at all. The only thing I regret is the many years of pain I had before I met Dr. Ramsey. He is compassionate and caring doctor as well as an excellent surgeon." -- Carol L.
"My name is Wendy I have had fibromyalgia for 16 years. I had been to several doctors over the years. I realized they either doped me up or did nothing to help me. Until I met Dr Wilkins I was basically homebound. My husband would get me up in the morning because I had to have help getting out of bed. I hurt to bad to go anywhere or do anything. I was depressed and very unhappy.
Dr. Wilkins and Brian gave me my life back. After several attempts with different medications, Dr. Wilkins found a medication that worked. My husband says he has his wife back. I am able to do many things I have not been able to do for years. I feel better and I have Dr. Wilkins to thank." -- Wendy J.
