"I fell 25 years ago down a 30 ft air conditioning shaft and did damage to my whole spine at the age of 38. I have suffered with the pain and have been unable to work since. Meds didn't help, except to take the edge off the pain. Doctors would look at my MRIs and just tell me my back was a mess and there was nothing they could do. I basically became a hermit due to the pain and was unable to stand, sit, or walk for any length of time. My wife and I came to visit some friends in Conway this past winter because the cold made me so much worse in Michigan. He had XLIF surgery 10 months before and the change was amazing. He had no pain, except when he would overdo it out in his wood working shop on a project and that was rare. Oh, I didn't tell you he is 84 yrs old. Before the surgery, he wasn't able to go out there for more than a few minutes. Anyway, he kept telling us to try and go see Dr. Mills, so we finally did. We are now thanking God everyday for our friends pushing us to go see him. Dr. Mills preformed XLIF surgery on my lumbar spine and I was up walking the halls the next day and in less pain than I had been in in 25 years. You are a miracle man, Dr. Mills, and we are so thankful to you for giving me back my life. I still have 1, maybe 2, more surgeries for him to fix my neck and possibly an area in the TSpine, but I am so looking forward to them so that hopefully with Dr. Watson's help also, I can finally be off all pain meds. Between Dr. MIlls skill and procedure and Dr. Watson helping to control the rest of the pain, my wife feels she has a new husband. We can go for walks together, socialize with friends, go camping, and other things I have hurt too bad to do in years. It is amazing to have a life again.Thank you, Dr. Mills for giving me my life back. I can't wait to come back in October for my neck surgery. God bless you and your staff." - Don H.

"My experience with Dr. Mills was amazing, before I had surgery and after. The operation stopped the terrible pains I had down my legs, aching and pain across my lumbar. I still have trouble with my right leg, and pain in the middle of my spine. I have arthritis in the spine and joint pain, but let me tell you, I do not walk crooked. Dr. Wilkins helped reassure me that there is no guarantee before surgery and was surprised of the amount of arthritis in my spine. I know I will still have joint and all the arthritis and pain, but it is nice to know from your physicians what's wrong and how they can help. Dr. Mills reassured me also what he can do for the surgery. Like they say, every little bit helps. With their help, it did for me. Thank You." - Mary Jean C.

"In August of 2008, my family and I were set to travel to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Western North Carolina/Eastern Tennessee. The only stop needed before our trip was to see Dr. Wilkins at Coastal Orthopedics for my pain management check-up. Dr. Wilkins came in and asked if I was having any issues different than the norm and I informed him that I had been having dull pains in my calf, followed by a cramp in my foot that would NOT go away. He examined my foot and told me "Either you have one heck of a case of plantar fasciitis, or you have a blood clot." I said, "Doc, we are leaving for vacation." He said, "Not until you have a sonogram in the ER." I told him I would walk down there and he said," No, we will wheelchair you there." Sure enough, I had a deep vein thrombosis, or blood clot, in my right leg and was admitted for a 5-day stay in the hospital! Our vacation was ruined, but Dr. Wilkins possibly saved my life, as the drive to the mountains could have caused the clot to dislodge and become a pulmonary embolism. In February 2013, my right leg broke under my own weight. After a barrage of testing, Dr. Wilkins found that I was low in testosterone and Vitamin D. I trust Coastal Orthopedics with my chronic pain issues, and always feel that they truly care about my well-being." -- Shane C.

"I have had trouble with my right knee for at least 5 years. Activities have been slowly from running to " I can't shop both departments at Wal-Mart at one time." I researched for someone to help. I chose Coastal Orthopedics. I found Dr. Peter Ramsey.  It is not possible to tell anyone of this experience. Walking in saying what my name is, to all in sight waving goodbye. The staff at Coastal Orthopedics is experienced, caring, and there to give you what you need before you know you need it. This care has me looking forward to line dancing in a couple months. Thank you one and all." -- P. Gail D.

"I was given Dr. Wilkins name while in rehab after fracturing my hip.  My care has been above and beyond anything I could have hoped for.  After rehab, my follow up care with Dr. Wilkins continues to be great.  He is thorough, skilled, caring, and always takes time for my concerns and questions.  His staff is the same. When I've called for help and or advice, they were quick to get back to me. This whole adventure has been a blessing because of these very special people put in my path.  Thank you." -- Diane N.

"I would like to commend Coastal Orthopedics for initiating a pump maintenance program when no other practice would consider it. I was forced to travel to New Jersey every two to three months for pump adjustments and refills. At first I was treated by Dr. Watson and then switched to Dr. Wilkins who not only treated my pain problems, but also diagnosed my sleep apnea, which I never imagined I even had.  Dr. Wilkins is the best. He is considerate, caring and a competent diagnostician.

I was also treated by Dr. Ramsey who replaced my left knee after many years of chronic pain due to sports related surgeries. I must say that your approach to joint replacement is quite remarkable. From the first encounter with a nursing coordinator throughout the entire process I was impressed by the amount of information that I received regarding my treatment plan. After surgery my pain was well managed and physical therapy began immediately the next day. After two days of therapy I was discharged and began my recovery with home therapy and then to a rehabilitation practice for a short time. Thank you all." -- Marc N.

"My name is Wendy I have had fibromyalgia for 16 years. I had been to several doctors over the years. I realized they either doped me up or did nothing to help me. Until I met Dr Wilkins I was basically homebound. My husband would get me up in the morning because I had to have help getting out of bed. I hurt to bad to go anywhere or do anything. I was depressed and very unhappy.

Dr. Wilkins and Brian gave me my life back. After several attempts with different medications, Dr. Wilkins found a medication that worked. My husband says he has his wife back. I am able to do many things I have not been able to do for years. I feel better and I have Dr. Wilkins to thank." -- Wendy J.

"When I was told that I had fibromyalgia, I was really unsure of what that was. However, the symptoms were everything that was explained to me. There was an article in the Sun News about a seminar at Conway Hospital given by Dr. Wilkins on "fibromyalgia" the new health problems that are showing up. That was me. My husband and I decided to go and see what it was all about. Dr. Wilkins tested me and talked to both of us at length about this condition and what it does to you and how to deal with it. I am coping with this condition and I am glad to have Dr. Wilkins on my side." -- Virginia P.

"I am a 75-year-old man with shoulder and back pain. I had been to other physicians to help me with my back problems. Dr Wilkins helped me more than anyone else. He is willing to try several new ideas. He recommended physical therapy, prescribed Lidoderm patches, testosterone gel. All of these treatments have deceased my back pain considerably." -- Ronald C.
